About

I taught French at Colston’s School, Bristol from September 1968 until July 2007. I was formerly Head of Modern Languages, Housemaster of Dolphin House, Master i/c rugby, Master i/c cricket, Officer in CCF (Army and RAF), and a member of the school’s senior management team as Senior Tutor.

I retired from teaching in July 2007 but continued as the school photographer and webmaster for the school website www.colstons.bristol.sch.uk and the website/contact database for Old Colstonians www.colstonsconnected.co.uk until April 2015

I played rugby and cricket for the Old Colstonians through the late sixties, seventies and early eighties. I have played at Old Colstonian Society Golf meetings on and off  over a long period of time. I became an Honorary Old Colstonian after 25 years of teaching at the school.

I became vice president of the Old Colstonian Society in March 2012. In March 2013 I took on the role of Membership Secretary of the Society and have edited the Society’s magazine “Cribsheet” since 2013.

I have Facebook and twitter (@ancienprof) accounts which I use mainly to keep in touch with Old Colstonians.

I publish photos connected with the school and the Old Colstonian Society events on Flickrt: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ancienprof/

My main interests are sport and photography (I am currently studying for a degree in Photography at the Open College of Arts) but really enjoy going to concerts and most cultural events. I particularly like visiting monuments, gardens, and art and photography galleries. I have recently become interested in birdwatching as long as it involves a walk at some stage (it must be my age!). I have always enjoyed travelling and I didn’t manage to have my waistline without an interest in food and drink.
