Big summer of OC events

I recently sent the following to OCs  in an email.

So far this year there have been two Old Colstonian events: a reunion lunch at Colston’s on Saturday 7th March and an OC Golf Society meeting at Minchinhampton Golf Club on Sunday 19th April.
Reports on these two events can be viewed on my OC President’s blog:

Our next major events will be over the weekend at the end of June. On Saturday 27th June there will be an Open Day for Old Colstonians with the annual cricket match between an OC XI and Colston’s 1st XI, The CCF is also celebrating its centenary this year and at lunch there will be special parade where we also hope to rededicate the war memorial steps.

On Sunday 28th June we will be running the popular mixed touch rugby tournament and a mixed hockey match.

On the evening of Saturday 27th June two members of the teaching staff, Dave Mason and Stephen Pritchard, who are retiring this summer are planning to host a retirement party which will take place in the theatre and (weather permitting) the surrounding grassed area. They have chosen this date, as they would like to invite OCs who may be attending the cricket, rugby and hockey fixtures. They intend to invite staff and OCs and will provide food and a paying bar (run through the OCRFC) as well as music and dancing in the theatre.

This summer we are also organising three other events which are primarily aimed at senior Old Colstonians but which will be open to all.

On Wednesday 17th June there is a coach trip to Bletchley Park (home of WW II codebreakers), and on Wednesday 12th August a coach trip to Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire.   Also for those interested in cricket on Tuesday 18th August there will be an OC day out at Bristol County Ground to see the 50-over match between Gloucestershire CCC and Surrey (including lunch).

There are other opportunities for OCs to get together as Colston’s Parents’ Society are keen to invite OCs to their Dinner-Dance on Saturday 13th June and the following evening on Sunday 14th June there is the garden opera of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at Colston’s School (see blog entry (https://ocpresident.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/tickets-now-available-for-mozarts-cosi-fan-tutte-performed-outdoors-by-tessitoura-within-colstons-school-grounds/).

The next golf meeting is at Long Ashton Golf Club on Friday 31st July.

I know this is a lot of events for one email and so soon we will be emailing with details of each event separately.

All our events will be posted on the alumni section of the school website

If you want to take part in or attend any of these events you might like to let Tracy Mace (OC Coordinator) know as this will help with our planning. Tracy can be contacted at:
